Ransom Note

FWF
I have had to take a few weeks off because we are getting ready for our oldest's graduation from high school.  I cannot seem to get anything done.  His open house is only a week and a few days away.  His last day of school is today.  Hard to believe that my little boy will be a high school graduate and will be leaving for college in the fall.  I have wanted to make card for his close friends for a while now but truthfully anytime I have made card lately they have been sympathy cards.  What a contrast, happiness and sadness but both are important.  The title of my post eludes to "a ransom note". You know in the movies when the kidnappers cut out different words from the newspaper to state their demands.  That is what I felt what I was doing. I was taking different sentiments and putting them together to get the words I wanted.

I love making cards from journaling cards.  It is quick and easy and a lot of times the art work is so pretty.  Last year for graduation I used Melody Ross cards and left over Studio Calico scrap paper from their kits.   This year I have been using Heidi Swapp.  Just to warn you these cards have quit an odor.  So I hope that it goes to a person that enjoys smells.  You know those people they you look over and they are smelling their markers and when they realize they got caught they simply state "I have always loved to smell markers".  I blame that on those awesome smelly ones we had back in elementary school.  The Mr. Smelly markers that smelled like bubble gum, lemon and licorice.  The smell depended on the color.  OK, once you get past that strong order you can move on(or not...no judgement here).

I am super excited for this card.  I am the guest designer this week over at 3 Girl JAM.  I think I use their ribbon on every other card I make.  I love it.  So head on over and check them out.  Than come back here and leave a comment and reference 3 Girl JAM and you will be entered in to win some blog candy. See details there for the deadline.  I am giving away the jewel bundle and more.

I decided to make a layout using the pink from their baby bundle.  I ran out of time to really journal before the midnight deadline. So it is just a quicky note.   It was a crazy Friday.  My girls had academic performances at school all day so I had to be there, my son had a baseball game and there was a gymnastic showcase for my oldest girl.  So by the time I got home and started I was racing the clock.  It was such a fun picture I just had to scrap it.  My littlest Y was hiding in the closet Easter morning because she was mad that we were not doing an Easter egg hunt immediately in the morning and she would have to wait until she got to her cousins house.  We like our candy around here so when we do not get our chocolate we can get cranky.

  5. I was never into smelling markers (really), but if you're really old, like me, you can remember mimeograph machines. Now, there was a smell! I'm so pleased I was able to steer you toward 3 Girl JAM ribbon. It's such a positive addiction! Thanks for guest designing for us!

  10. Your layout and story are awesome! It's great to get that stuff documented while you remember the details. I'm so behind, many of those details are deep in the crevices of my mind.

  11. You've got the magic touch with ribbon. Many of us are cranky without chocolate...both the edible and Scrapbooking site. What seems to be starting to trend again is smelly embossing powder. Mimeograph ink smell is one best forgotten.
